Autocrossing events are driving skill contests that emphasize the driver's ability and the car's handling characteristics. This is accomplished by driving a course that is designated by traffic cones on a low hazard location, such as a parking lot or inactive airstrip. You run against a timing clock with competitors who have a similar Porsche to yours. Individuals who have the best times for their classes are determined the winners and will receive a trophy at the end of the day.

Rules Changes:
Bumping Schedule (when there are not enough entrants to establish a class).
*Three (3) cars are necessary to make a class, except that a) in modified, only one car is necessary, and b) no more than two classes may be combined: provided, however, that c) cars will be bumped until a class is established.
P1>P2>P3>P4>P5>P6>P7>P8>P9>M1
* Modifications to an automobile are allowed as outlined in the previous year’s PCRs. For Production Class cars, a mathematical factor of 0.975 would be used to adjust times recorded by cars using R Compound tires (UTQG wear rating of less than 140) upward. Cars otherwise classified as Improved in the PCR’s, will be regrouped with their appropriate Production class plus a one class bump. Improved cars that would be classified P8 as defined by the Chicago Region will be bumped into the Modified class.
The cars will be classed by participants, however, *classing structure may be modified to suit participation levels at the discretion of the event chair. Protests can only be made by other drivers in the same class. Protests must be lodged before the trophy presentation. In the case of protests, the event chair will chair a protest committee and will appoint two other qualified people from a different class to make the ruling with a simple majority vote.
Passengers are not allowed in a vehicle during an autocross. Instructors may ride as a passenger in a vehicle or have a passenger in their own vehicle only with the event chair’s approval. At the Autocross Drivers Schools passengers are only allowed during formal driving instructions.
*2005 or newer SNELL approved helmets must be worn by all drivers and passengers.
Vehicle occupants at any autocross or Autocross Drivers School must be at least 16-17 years old to participant in the Junior Participant Program (see details about the Junior Participant Program and the necessary waiver forms at www.pca.org/members/library.html or 18 years old if not.
*Denotes changes from previous years. This handout is just an overview of our Autocross program; the complete AUTOCROSS CLASSES AND NOTES can be found in the 2011 Membership Directory.
